Hi, Scott - yes, sure, I am eminently commissionable. And yes, we'll be in San Diego again this year. Got a sketchbook to sell this time, too...and in all probability, a second volume as well. If you want to get in touch about commissions, please email me at dabeagle@aol.com. Thanks!

Is it just me , Dean or do I see a bit of Chuck Jones' influence in your work?
Just curious.

Chuck Jones? You bet, and lots of others, too...Bob Clampett, Ward Kimball, Freddie Moore, Walt Kelly, T.S. Sullivant, Ronald Searle...too many to mention. Glad it shows a little!

Ah yes, Fred Moore.
That guy knew his way around the female form, as well. I think you and he would get along just fine!

Hey Mr. Yeagle,
I first saw your work in one of those Pinup Illustrated magazines and I must say I was really impressed with your work! I am an aspiring artist, and I've got my work online at http://groups.msn.com/awertystudio . If you have time, maybe you could look at it and give me a critique?

your expressions are wonderful, and it just looks so EASY!...for you that is (hee hee) I have noticed that the girls you draw never have their ears showing. Is that just your little calling card per say?
From:
Lauren
(Wed May 26 22:24:46 2004)
Actually, in a lot of ways, it seems that without ears it also directs a lot more attention to her face and expression.

Dean-
Man you are amazing to me. Where can I find books on the women you draw, is there one out there. I would like to see you do a series of how shapes and mas play a part in the design of a women from: White, Black, india and Asian Women. Break it down for us. I am a sculpter and would like to see you take on this. Show us the diferences in these subjects and how to handle the curves verses straights. It would be a delight to see what you come up with, also don't forget to add attitude and personality.
Thanks,
Darren

From:

Darren - sounds like a lot of work! I don't know when I could get around to such a project, but I'll keep it in mind...don't know that I'm much of a teacher, though. I'd have to figure it all out for myself, first.
Simon - The name 'Mandy' just seemed right to me...I wanted 'cute', but not icky or phony cute...'Mandy' just seemed to click. She LOOKS like a 'Mandy', doesn't she?
From:
Simon
(Wed Aug 11 13:01:03 2004)

As an added note, the name Mandy makes me think of the Mandy from "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy", a VERY VERY funny cartoon on the Cartoon Network. Very random and silly humor there.

Speaking of the name "Mandy", it's a short form of "Amanda".
Created in the 17th century by the playwright Colley Cibber, who based it on Latin amanda meaning "lovable". Got that from a website! ;D
